Chuuya raises an eyebrow at Dazai, but he does as Dazai signals. He wants to be within grabbing range in case Dazai gets any ideas, after all.]
Who knows? Maybe. It's worth looking into. We gotta protect ourselves, after all.
[He's been very careful about touching anyone or having anyone's mouth get close to him. If the monster things are transmitted by injuries, then he just won't get injured.]
Well if you turn, then I guess you'll get to finally die.
[He can't promise that it'll be painless, but Chuuya won't hesitate, even if it's Dazai. Both because he wants to live, and because he doesn't want Dazai to be a monster. Those transformations look painful.]
[ There's a lift in the corner of his lips at that that doesn't quite meet his eyes. ]
I guess I will then. I'll trust that task to you.
[ Since Chuuya already has dibs and there's no one else he would trust that to. Turning away from the scenery as he pauses again. Reaching to put a hand on his shoulder to give it a pat. ]
[He had said he wanted to kill Dazai, right? It was strange, but suddenly he didn't quite feel like offing the guy right now. Losing an ally in this place was a mistake he didn't want to make, especially if it wasn't needed for survival.]
[ He's quiet for a moment, musing over that reaction.
It points to something budding between them. It wasn't anything like that, but it was something more than people shoved into a situation together or just co-workers. ]
Chuuya, I-
[ And then the scenery will change.
Chuuya will find himself riding up a very familiar elevator and feeling like he's restricted- no, not restricted. He's covered in bandages and seems to be a little shorter compare to the last time he's been in there. He will feel an almost resigned numbness as he regards someone standing in front of him.
It probably won't be hard for Chuuya to recognize Mori standing there, even if he's missing the usual outfit befitting a mafia boss. He's there with a lab coat on and his hands are in his pockets. As they get close to the top, he'll finally turn his attention to Chuuya.
He reminds him to be on his best behavior and how soon his debt will wiped clean soon enough. There's almost an impatience bubbling there just under the numbness at this point. He can recall the conversation perfectly, even while on the pain medication.
Though there is some interest in what he's planning on doing, but really it doesn't matter. Mori-sensei saved him for a reason, and he's about to find out what.
The doors open and instead of heading to the office, they walk down the hall to head to a room that Chuuya hasn't ever been in. There's guards flanking the door, and they seem to just let them both in without any questions. Mori was the private doctor of the boss and it wasn't the first time he brought Dazai around the building. He was taking care of the boy after an "accident."
They walk inside and the doors close behind them. Dazai immediately heads towards the window to watch from a safe distance. The Old Boss was paranoid and delusional, so it was best that he stayed out of view from the ailing man.
Mori greets the boss as he moves to stand within view of the man. ]
[ Just like that, there's blood every where. Dazai hasn't seen so much blood even after he tried to end his own life several times. The bandages feel tight on his wrists and his neck, but he holds absolutely still as he meets Mori's gaze. You're the witness.
Already the gears churn in his head as he slowly puts it together. Mori has saved him and took care of him just for this moment because he was suicidal. He'll have to play witness until everyone is satisfied before Mori will finally help him end his life.
This is fine. The numbness is back, and he feels like whatever hope he may have been nursing was completely smothered. This is fine.
And just like that the memory is over and Dazai is staring with his eyes wide. ]
Chuuya's eyes are also wide, as he takes a moment to really just think about everything he saw. The 'accident', Mori's declaration, how empty Dazai felt in that moment...
Chuuya can feel a hole opening up inside his own heart too, and it's not the same as the emptiness Dazai routinely feels.]
...Oi. Dazai.
[His gaze is firm, and he's set on speaking. There's no question about what he saw and felt, and now he needs to say something about it. He feels like he must.]
[ That's when he realizes that Chuuya definitely saw all of that. It takes a moment longer as he processes what the other is saying and tries to figure out why he's saying that. Did he feel like he needed to boost up Dazai? Make him feel better after that moment?
Then something more serious settles on Dazai's expression. ]
[Maybe. It's hard to tell. Chuuya just knows that he hates it when people see him for just his potential as Arahabaki's vessel, so maybe Dazai dislikes being seen as a tool too.]
Even if it was, you wouldn't be thinking about it now if it wasn't bothering you, right?
[ This is brushing something that he usually keeps tempered down. Buried under the darkness and everything else. The look he gives Chuuya is something he might not have seen often because Chuuya is interesting, even if at times annoying. It's a look devoid of light and any kind of hope. ]
Back then I was foolish enough to still have hope that maybe someone would save me. I know better now.
[ He's moving away after those words to head towards the pile of blankets and pillows. ]
[He should say no. He really should say no to that.
Luckily a memory happens and completely interrupts his train of thought!
The night seems darker with all of the lights in the area extinguished. So much damage has been done that there just isn't a way to power anything in the area anymore. And with how deep the crater is, it's difficult to see the rest of the city lights as well. All that exists of the world outside of the crater is a haze in the distance, and the bright moon overhead.
It's full, and impossible to look away from. No other thought enters his mind at the moment. He barely notices the sirens or the shouting, or the cries of those who weren't immediately killed by the blast.
All he sees is the moon, and he's left with a sense of wonder.
'Am I awake now? This can't be a dream anymore, right?'
To anyone else, he's a lost child who somehow survived a cataclysmic disaster. But to himself, he is the holder of great power, the waking of a consciousness that had been slumbering for a long, long time.
[ That's quite the memory. He's seen how the crater looks after that moment, but never seen what it looked like at that time. There's almost something beautiful about it, because it's when Chuuya became Chuuya amidst all of that destruction.
It's when Chuuya saw the night sky for the first time. That sense of wonder is something foreign for him, and he can't help feel a tiny bit envious that his partner- or whatever he is, could actually feel such things.
Looking at the other for a moment before he waves for him to come join him on the blanket pillow pile. For once, he's quiet though. ]
[ Dazai just keeps pulling him around. Once he's settled down, he's grabbing one of the blankets to pull it over them both. He tries to look like a gremlin as he does, but it doesn't quite reach his eyes like it usually does. Time to make their own blanket fort, but maybe after whatever it is passes.
It's weird to be considerate especially to Chuuya, but... he knows this might be touching something vulnerable in the red head. ]
[ It's like a cloth hug from your rival. He's keeping his hands on the blanket, because he doesn't know what to even do with them.
Walk around for a bit in all of that though. Chuuya had to physically seven at the time and new to all the things. He was probably with the Sheep or at least the original members for a while, which explains why he was loyal or even let them use him.
Letting go of the blanket to put a hand on Chuuya's shoulder. He isn't sure how to hug yet or is even sure if that's what he wants to do in this moment. He has no regret at all for pushing the dominoes that ended with Chuuya in the Mafia. But they were important and he can tell Chuuya might want some measure of comfort or affection here. ]
Do you ever regret being brought out from the darkness?

[ Chuuya is better at socializing than Dazai is, but he'll step it up this week to see if they can find something. ]
It would be a shame to lose you if you're ever turned.
[ Also don't jinx this Chuuya it's vampire theme week with the garlic and the room thing happening. ]
